I'm hoping the issue had more to do with handing off sequences from a PC Avid to a Mac, but even that shouldn't really be an issue should it? I was working on the assumption that sequences (not projects) can mostly be handed off across versions of the Avid, and you just had to watch out to not use plug-in packages or functions that only became available in the newer version of MC. that editor was cutting on whatever was current last summer (2021.x) and additionally, was cutting on a PC. He couldn't even see the video and the AE had to video mixdowns for him to be able to watch the work. He tells me that last season, he had trouble reading sequences that came from another editor's Avid. I'm currently on the bleeding edge 2022.4.0 and I'm going to have to hand off any sequences I cut to an editor cutting on 2019.12.

Off the soapbox I step.I'm about to start a show and I'd like to use my own Mac and Avid. I don't recall having this issue in prior versions of Media Composer.Īnyway. But that defeats the purpose of being able to set up a Workspace where I've configured the windows, doesn't it? I think there's a bug lurking somewhere. If I don't try to use a keyboard shortcut mapped to a workspace, the Effects Editor does come up - in its own floating window. It's just Effects Mode where I can't get Avid to behave. I have a Workspace that brings up the source browser - with the browser re-sized. I have a workspace set up for Motion Effects and the Motion Effects editor appears, no problem. What's weird is that this issue is only happening with the Effects Editor. I've tried using the Properties function in the Workspace pulldown, which supposedly allows me to link a workspace to "Named Settings" as well as a Bin Layout, to see if that would do something. The window that I've set up where the Effects Editor should go remains blank and I am forced to click on the Effects Mode button to get the controls to appear. I cannot for the life of me create a Workspace that will activate the Effects Editor when I have clip selected. I tried resetting the site settings but to no avail. Seems like this shouldn't be happening.Īnyway. You can see the specs of my system below. Can't find anything in any of the User settings that I'd need to tweak. I'm thinking maybe it has to do with using a 32" monitor instead of a 27" monitor? But that seems silly. I don't know why it doesn't remember my Workspaces. I either have to hit the Effects Mode button sitting at the bottom of the Composer source window to activate the effects editor mode, or if I go into the Workspaces pull down menu and select Restore to Saved (with my created Workspace selected mind you), I then get the Workspace window that I'd previously set up. I press E and I get a blank effects window, even though I've pre-selected a clip with an effect. A community of creative professionals is waiting to assist you on our Forums. For example, I set up my effects editor for effects mode with the window in between my bins and the source/record window. With 22.4.0, I can create and save a new workspace, but Avid doesn't seem to remember it when I call it up. Should be easy, right? In prior versions of Media Composer I never had an issue. I've become a fan of creating specific Workspaces for different tasks, and then mapping the workspaces to certain keys. Mostly it seems fine, but I've encountered another issue I wonder if anyone else is experiencing.
